Podcast #14 - The Italian truffle

The truffle (tartufo in Italian) is a rare type of edible mushroom, or fungus that develops underground in relation to and dependent on the root of a tree. In ancient times truffles were considered the food of the Gods, with powerful aphrodisiac properties, much favoured by the passionate Jove.
The subject matter expert of this podcast is Mauro Mencaroni of Giuliano Tartufi, an Italian shop specialized in truffle products. He'll share some interesting insights about this very expensive garnish.
Please note that this interview is conducted in Italian.
We'd love to hear your feedback if you like us to continue producing from time to time some podcasts in Italian too.

More interviews in Itakian would be appreciated.
Grazie.

Hi - Since I don't understand Italian perhaps you could recommend a podcast about Italy that is in English? I would enjoy listening to the truffle podcast in English. Many thanks!
Jill
Jill, all our podcasts so far have been in English. This one is our first experiment to interview some subject matter expert in Italian.
We'll continue doing shows in English and alternate from time to time some in Italian.
Thanks for your note.
I loved listening in Italian! and I was pleased to be able to understand most if not all of it.
Perhaps running "subtitles" in the video feed could be added to help tutto quello che non capiscono l'Italiano.
Please continue to create podcasts in Italian! Mi piacciono molto!
Cordiali saluti,
Barbara
I was thrilled when I saw podcast #14 was on truffles. My husband is a truffle fanatic and would like to plan a trip to Italy one year when it's truffle season...if that is actually what they even call it. We enjoy listening to your podcast. Loved the Italian interview. But it would be nice if there was a translation, even if it were brief, on the blog. Keep up the great work.
Melissa
Please continue doing episodes in Italian. I'm learning Italian and this was great - Paolo and Mauro both spoke clearly and slow enough that I could understand most of it.
Keep up the great work - love your podcast!

Having your podcast in Italian was fantastic. I've been following it since the middle of last year, and I have shared and recommended it to my high school classes. I anticipate being able to use the podcast in Italian with them and would love to hear more. Mille grazie!
The interview in Italian was great! More italian podcasts would be great. I am a truffle fan, and am learning Italian so this was a double treat.
Ottimo! Please continue with more interviews in Italian. I stumbled into your blog the other day specifically looking for podcasts in Italian. I stayed to read the whole blog from beginning to finish and was so pleased to find this podcast at the end! A presto! Melissa
Ciao Paolo e Francesca!
I enjoyed this podcast very much (it was nice to listen in Italian). Our family recently returned from a two year adventure living in Italy (Umbria region) so we know about truffles. I've had the privilege of hunting truffles with a friend (and his dogs) and experienced how truffles are used to prepare classic Umbrian dishes with another friend (one of the finest chefs in Umbria). For me, truffles are a delight but my wife (who doesn't care for mushrooms) does not share this appreciation. Too bad for her! Spero di poter conoscervi di persona nel futuro... grazie mille! Robert e Anne-Marie Bishop (con i nostri sette figli).
