The secret is: -do not hesitate-. Step forward to the other side of the road and the cars will slow down without hitting you.
Nice Blog :)
Cheers,

I would NEVER get across the street in Italy! I was hit by a car on the beach when I was about two. Nice video and music.

I think I've spent too much time in Italy already, I watched the film thinking there was nothing wrong with it.

Paolo, you took these film supposingly in Trieste only, which is the most norther-european city in italy. You should have taken instead in the "real world" of italian traffic, somewhere in Napoli, or Palermo, or Rome.....

I've spent too much time in Roma and Napoli - I thought it was a holiday since the traffic was so light.

Francesco says it like it is. Never hesistate. Act like you own the road, but I make sure I look at the driver as I head out in front of him. Once a year I head for Italy. My first day back I'm afraid..how will I ever get across this street...I wait wait and wait...at the end of a 3 month stay I'm a regular pro and can cross with the best of them, without even thinking about it (even across the 5 to 6 car "lanes" around the Napoli train station)!

Sitting here chuckling to myself. I see it happening every day and think nothing of it, but to the eyes of a poor foreigner trying to cross that street it must seem hell. I agree with Francesco. Whatever you do, look confident and don't even dream of hesitating! I usually cross the street with a "run-me-over-and-will-sue-your-ahem-backside" look on my face. It's worked so far :-)Cia a tutti!
